Help for technicians – Working with the NODIKA app

How to work as a technician with NODIKA – login, going online, accepting jobs via alarm, setting the status, queue, customer chat, cancellation, ringtone and settings.

This page was machine-translated from German. In case of doubt, the German version applies: Deutsch

As a technician, you receive jobs from customers near you directly on your phone. You go online when you're ready, accept requests with a single tap and guide the customer through the job using the status. This page explains everything you need day to day.

Access to the app

You have two options – both show the same interface:

  • NODIKA Technician app for Android and iOS (from the Play Store or App Store). The app also provides push notifications and background location – it's the better choice for everyday use.
  • In the browser at www.nodika.de/monteur/login.

Your login details (email and password) are provided by your partner business. You cannot register yourself – contact your business if you don't have access yet or have forgotten your password. The partner can resend your login details at any time.

You change your password yourself in the settings (see below).

The dashboard

After logging in, you land on the dashboard. At the top you see your business's logo, your name and whether the connection to the server is up (Connected / Disconnected). At the top right, the menu icon (⋮) opens the settings.

In the middle is the large round Online/Offline button – the heart of the app.

Online and Offline

State Colour What happens
Online Green You receive jobs. Your position is sent to NODIKA regularly so that customers nearby can see you.
Offline Grey You don't receive any requests, and no location is sent.

The first time you go online, your phone asks for location permission – please allow it, otherwise customers can't find you. In the app, it's best to choose "Allow all the time" so that location tracking also works when the screen is locked.

Important: You stay online until you set yourself offline – even if the network drops briefly or the app is running in the background. So at the end of your working day, deliberately tap Offline.

A job comes in: the alarm

When a customer selects you, a red full-screen alarm appears immediately – with a looping ringtone and, if the app is in the background, a push notification.

You see:

  • the service (e.g. Door locked),
  • the customer's address,
  • the customer name,
  • the distance in kilometres,
  • the price the customer pays,
  • a 45-second countdown.

Two buttons: Accept or Decline. If you decline or the time runs out, the customer is notified immediately and can choose another technician. You won't be penalised for this – but frequently not responding will be noticed by your business.

Did you have the app closed when an alarm came in? The next time you open it, the app checks whether an open request is still waiting for you and shows it if the 45 seconds are still running.

After accepting: setting the status

When you accept, the alarm turns green. Now you guide the customer through the job by setting the status step by step:

You are … Tap … The customer sees …
Ready to go Start driving "Technician is on the way" + your live position
At the customer's Arrived "Technician is on site"
Done Complete "Completed" + the payment request

After completion, the view closes automatically after a short time and you're ready for the next job again.

In the green window you will also find Go to job (all details on a separate page) and Cancel job.

Set the status honestly and promptly. The customer relies on it – for them, "En route" means that you have really set off.

Two jobs at once: the queue

You can have up to two jobs at the same time. If a second job comes in while the first is still running, you can accept it – it then goes into the queue:

  • The alarm for the second job turns orange instead of green and shows "In queue".
  • At the top of the dashboard, a yellow bar Active jobs (2/2) appears with both jobs. The first is highlighted in bold ("Work on this now"), the second is listed as "Up next".
  • The customer of the second job sees "1 job ahead of you" and a correspondingly longer arrival time.

With two active jobs, you are no longer offered to customers until one is completed. So a third alarm won't come.

Chat with the customer

There is a chat box in the green window. Here the customer can write to you ("Please use the back entrance") and you to them ("I'll be there in 5 minutes"). For new messages you hear a sound and get a notification. Your messages are on the right, the customer's on the left.

You can also reach the customer at any time using the Call button in the order details.

Cancel a job

Sometimes there's no other way – breakdown, accident, emergency. In the green window, tap Cancel job, choose a reason from the list (or "Other reason" with free text) and confirm.

The customer is informed immediately and can choose another technician. Only cancel if it's really necessary – every cancellation is annoying for a customer in an emergency and is shown to your business.

If the customer cancels while you have the job open, you see the message "The customer has cancelled the job". Tap OK and you're free again.

Settings (menu at the top right)

Tap the ⋮ icon to open the menu:

Menu item What you do there
Orders Your job history with all details
Internal jobs Jobs your business has assigned to you directly (see below). A red badge shows how many are open.
Change password Current password, new password, confirmation
Service availability List of the services assigned to you. You can temporarily switch off individual ones – e.g. Opening a Safe if you don't have the tools with you right now.
Ringtone Five tones to choose from (Default, Digital, Classic, Alarm, Soft) with preview
Language The app is available in 16 languages, and push notifications also arrive in your language
Debug & Logs Technical logs, in case support asks you for them
Logout Sets you offline and logs you out

Internal jobs

Your partner business can assign jobs to you directly without a customer having ordered via NODIKA – for example a regular customer, a scheduled installation or a company trip. You can recognise such internal jobs by:

  • an orange notice on the dashboard ("1 internal job waiting"),
  • the red counter on the Internal jobs menu item,
  • a push notification.

Open the job, read the address, time window and description, and tap Accept or Decline. After that it runs like a normal job: Start driving, Arrived, Complete.

Entering a job yourself

Is there a customer in front of you who didn't order via NODIKA (e.g. a neighbour who has just approached you)? With + Enter Order on the dashboard you record it yourself: choose a category, then fill out the normal order form. That way the job runs properly through NODIKA and appears in your history and in your business's billing.

Frequently asked questions from technicians

I'm not getting any jobs even though I'm online. Check: (1) Does it say "Connected" at the top? (2) Has location permission been granted – set to "Always" in the app? (3) Do you already have two active jobs? (4) Has your business activated the services for you and set prices? (5) Is your business's account possibly suspended? In that case every technician is automatically set offline – ask your business.

The alarm doesn't ring when the phone is locked. Use the app instead of the browser, allow notifications and exclude the app from your phone's battery optimisation. In the browser, background alarms only work to a limited extent.

I've forgotten my password. Your partner business can send you new login details. There is no "Forgot password" function for technicians because the business manages your access.

Can I change the price for the customer? No. Prices are set by your business, and the customer saw them when ordering. If other items arise on site, discuss this with the customer and your business.

I was offline even though I didn't tap Offline. Either you logged out (Logout always sets you offline), or your business's account was suspended because of an outstanding amount. In that case only your business can reactivate you by settling the amount.
